It's well worth the effort though, get the quickstart mod if you want the ability to quickly check if your mods are working correctly. Overall modding fallout 3 can be quite a headache when installing a lot of mods, and requires the user to be careful and follow mod instructions properly. Awesome immersive mod that combines well with the darker nights/interior mods mentioned before. Get a bullet time mod if you don't use FWE.Īlso check out Gophers Nightvision/thermal vision mod. Various other textures for armor/weapons can be found in the STEP guide. Fallout 3 Redesigned is an essential for enhancing NPC faces. Kelmychs step guide has a section for this that should still be up to date.įor textures and environment NMCs texture packs should always be used, as well as flora overhaul dead version.

They are installed seperately and I recommend to use them with DARNui. Also there is Clarity which is a really good option for being vanilla friendly, it just removes the green tint and has a darker nights optional esp)įor UI there are some essential mods for me just like New Vegas - Adjustable HUD and Immersive HUD were ported from New Vegas' OneHUD. Realistic interior lighting is also essential for me, it makes interiors darker and creepier and use of the pipboy light necessary (also get brighter pipboy light mod). Any darker nights mod is essential IMO (if not using DC moods), they make traversing the wasteland at night scary and immersive. These change the default green tinge of FO3 and generally makes the game look much better. If you want to mod weather, lighting ETC you should look at Fellout or DC moods (I think DC moods is way better).
FALLOUT 3 MODS DOWNLOAD
"Blackened FWE - MMM - EVE - Project Beauty""Blackened RH_Ironsights - FWE - EVE"ĮDIT: I forgot that there are more compatibility patches throughout, for example RH ironsights requires patches found on its download page for some of the big mods, following kelmychs guide will help with this.

For example if you chose all the big content mods (FWE, Fallout 3 Redesigned, Weapon Mod Kits, RH_Ironsights, EVE, and MMM) you would still only need 3 essential patches.
FALLOUT 3 MODS PATCH
There's a section on Kelmychs guide called conditional patches that will tell you which patch to download depending on which mods you installed, It can seem intimidating but it's really not that complicated. The bigger content mods I just mentioned will need compatibility patches to make them play nice together. Also Weapon mod kits is essential in my eyes as it allows you to mod weapons like New Vegas. IIRC mods like FWE, EVE, RH ironsights and More Perks are all good bets to add a lot of content with a few mods. Kelmychs guide has large section on quest/content mods but I've never used them so I can't vouch for or against it. Just make sure to carefully follow the instructions. If you really want to take your time to mod the game, going through either or both mod lists and installing whichever mods pique your fancy is a good bet.

I wouldn't recommend to strictly follow either guide if you don't want to invest a lot of time modding as they are both large mod lists. I'd recommend following either this guide. I don't know if it's your first time playing modded but I'll assume it is, Although FWE is outdated (most FO3 mods are) I still recommend using it because of just how much it changes the base game and creates a more immersive experience, but if the "survivalist" element isn't for you don't use it. I know it's been 4 months since your post but incase you haven't played yet - or for anyone else reading and wanting to mod FO3 I'll drop what I know below, I've modded the shit out of this game many times and played it through mostly because it's hugely nostalagic for me - but also because I think it's the most immersive fallout game ever created - especially in regards of world design.
